Don La Greca and Michael Kay together celebrate a milestone in the radio business – 20 years together.
Since 2002, La Greca worked alongside Kay. While their two broadcast obligations, Kay being the television voice of the Yankees and La Greca being a radio voice of the Rangers, saw the duo do their radio show in separate locations, Don and Michael were a constant source of sports talk. in New York for the past two decades.
Despite this award, the show is still titled The Michael Kay Show. La Greca doesn’t make much of his name not being featured, but he understands why it isn’t.
“I don’t know if there’s a show in this country where the co-host’s name isn’t on the show somehow, but I get it,” La Greca told Newsday. “Sometimes, from an ego perspective, for me, it bothers me.”
“I wish my name was on the show, but at the end of the day, look, it’s always been like this and it doesn’t really matter to me,” he added.
For the past seven years, the show has also featured the voice of Peter Rosenberg. La Greca said he was initially not a big fan of Rosenberg’s involvement, but he appreciated the addition of a third partner to the program.
“We didn’t think we needed it, and now we’re looking back seven years, and it was a great idea,” he said.
