Local social media creators were recently recognized for their talents at the Northern Ireland Social Media Awards 2022, with Fermanagh Lakeland Tourism and Clogher Valley RFC taking top prizes.
The winners were announced on Saturday October 1 at the Europa Hotel in Belfast. During the ceremony, it was announced that Fermanagh Lakeland Tourism had won the award for ‘Best Use of Social Media in Hospitality/Tourism with over 10,000 followers (10,000 subscribers)’ and Clogher Valley RFC took received the award for ‘Best Use of Social Media in Charity’.
The social media skills of sisters-in-law Julie Kenwell and Elaine Godfrey of Osborne & Co. were also recognized at the awards ceremony, with the Enniskillen-based company coming second in the ‘Best Use of Social Media’ category. Instagram” in the evening.
Speaking on behalf of Fermanagh Lakeland Tourism, Tanya Cathcart said: “It is a brilliant achievement for Fermanagh Lakeland Tourism to win this award. Our social media activity has grown significantly over the past few years and we have recognized the importance of innovative, regular and engaging content for visitors.

“It’s a vital way to promote the region and engage with industry and visitors. The continued growth and engagement on our social media platforms is a testament to the hard work put in by the team every day, and It is to them that the credit for all the efforts that have made it possible to obtain this distinction belongs to them.
“Staff are continually improving their skills and knowledge in this medium and are continually thinking of new ways to engage with customers. TikTok is the latest trend adopted by Fermanagh Lakeland Tourism and complements the wide range of activities undertaken.
“From organic posts, contests, blogs, shared posts, paid campaigns, and influencer visits, social media has a huge impact on our daily lives and is therefore a platform we need to engage with in order to to sell the advantages of this wonderful country and its assets.”
Rachel Fannin, Social Media Manager for Clogher Valley RFC, was delighted to take home the winning award for ‘Best Use of Social Media in Charity’. This award was sponsored by Aware NI, Northern Ireland’s leading depression charity.
Four club representatives attended the dinner, namely Rodney Bennett (Club President) and his wife Rebekah Bennett (formerly Club Physio), my fiancé Paul Armstrong (Club Captain) and Rachel Fannin (Public Relations Manager).
“I have been managing social media for Clogher Valley RFC for almost three years now and to achieve an award at this level has been such an honor and a great achievement for the Club,” said Rachel, adding: “We have over 2,000 followers on our Instagram, over 4,000 on our Facebook and over 1,000 on our TikTok As of September 2022, we have reached a combined audience of 110,000 and our most popular TikTok video has had over 140 views 000 times, so it was wonderful for great recognition for this work.”
