Do you have a personal story about side effects or alternatives?

Are you an expert on an alternative to drugs?

Would you like to place a guest post or contribute an article to MedShadow?

Love one of our stories so much you’d like to share it or repost it on your site?

Great! We like to share. But we have some guidelines.

Your story on MedShadow

We would love to hear your personal “first person” story. Send us a brief overview of your story. These stories should be in the first person, using ‘I’ and ‘me’. It should not be less than 650 words and can be up to 2000 (but we could cut). The facts must be medically correct, and if you want to include links to medical studies, you can. But this story is about you – your experience using a drug, avoiding or managing harm from that drug, or deciding to avoid a drug by using other drugs or making lifestyle changes. We will respond to you as soon as possible. You have to not work for or represent or be paid by a pharmaceutical company or medical device manufacturer. Beginning and developing writers are welcome, but we reserve the right to edit any article for publication on our site. (You will see and be able to approve important changes.) Send your request to [email protected]

Your submission of an article for review indicates your consent to exclusive publication by MedShadow and your consent to the rules here.

Guest Posts / Article Contribution

Are you an expert? Is it a larger topic? Maybe you are an acupuncturist and want to share your enthusiasm for the benefits of oriental medicine. Great. Please send a brief outline of your story idea and references – what makes you an expert or the right person to write this story. We enjoy writing samples. We’re happy to include a link to your website or business where appropriate, but please make sure the subject of the article matches our mission.

We don’t accept sponsored posts, you can’t pay us to show your content. That said, we might just run if it’s free. All articles must be related to our mission, which is to protect life and quality of life by reporting drug side effects, preventing or managing side effects and alternatives to drugs. Quotes from doctors and patients add interest and credibility. We emphasize evidence-based medicine and for this type of story it is best to link to research that supports your statements. We recognize that the evidence is thin for many alternatives, so be upfront about what has been studied and what is tradition or clinical experience.

We do not charge for guest posts, but we do not accept all submissions. We only publish articles that we can represent as part of MedShadow. The writer must not work for or represent or be paid by a pharmaceutical company or medical device manufacturer. We will respond to you as quickly as possible. Beginning and developing writers are welcome, but we reserve the right to edit any article for publication on our site. (You will see and be able to approve important changes.) Send your request to [email protected]

Remember that Medshadow does not accept support from pharmaceutical companies or manufacturers of medical devices. All writers must also be free of disputes with these companies. Your submission of an article for review indicates your consent to exclusive publication by MedShadow and your consent to the rules here.
